An internal (crestal) lift is used when only a few millimetres are needed — the sinus floor is raised through the implant site itself, and the implant is usually placed at the same time.
A lateral window lift is used when more height is required. Access is made through the side of the jaw, the membrane is lifted and graft placed, then the implant follows after healing.
Expect some swelling and occasionally minor nose bleeding for a day or two. We'll ask you to avoid nose-blowing, straws and flying for a short period so the graft isn't disturbed.
Healing typically takes four to six months before the implant is loaded with its final crown.
