When several teeth are missing in a row, you don't need one implant per tooth. Two or three well-placed implants can support a fixed bridge that restores the whole span — stable, easy to clean and impossible to spot as replacement teeth.
When several teeth are missing in a row, you don't need one implant per tooth. Two or three well-placed implants can support a fixed bridge that restores the whole span — stable, easy to clean and impossible to spot as replacement teeth.
1How the bridge is supported
Implants are placed at each end of the gap and, where the span is long, in the middle. Once integrated with the bone they carry a single bridge spanning the missing teeth.
This is usually more conservative and longer lasting than a conventional bridge, which relies on cutting down the healthy teeth either side of the gap.
2Timeline
After placement, implants need roughly three to four months to fuse with the bone. You'll wear a temporary restoration during that time so you're never without teeth.
Impressions or digital scans are then taken for the definitive bridge, which is tried in and adjusted before being fitted.
