1What are All-on-4 implants?
All-on-4 is a clever full-arch implant technique developed by Nobel Biocare. Instead of placing 8–10 implants per jaw, just four are used — with the rear two angled at 30–45 degrees for maximum strength and to make the most of the available bone.
The four implants then support a full bridge of fixed, beautifully crafted teeth — for the upper jaw, the lower jaw, or both.
2Teeth in a day
Because All-on-4 implants are designed to support a temporary fixed bridge from the moment they're placed, you can often walk out of our Forest Hill clinic with a full set of fixed teeth on the same day as your surgery — which is why this treatment is sometimes called 'teeth in a day' or 'smile in a day'.
3Could All-on-4 be right for you?
All-on-4 is often an excellent option for patients who:
Are missing most or all of the teeth in one or both arches
Wear dentures and want something fixed and more comfortable
Have been told they have too little bone for traditional implants
Want a quicker, more affordable alternative to a full arch of single implants
A full assessment with our implant team — including a 3D CT scan to check bone density — will confirm whether All-on-4 is the best route for you.
4All-on-4 vs traditional implants vs dentures
All-on-4 — fixed teeth on 4 implants per jaw, often placed in a single day, typically £5,000–£14,000 per jaw, lasting 10+ years.
Traditional implants — 8–10 implants per jaw, treatment over several months, typically £8,000–£21,000 per jaw, lasting 10–15+ years.
Removable dentures — rest on the gums, may need adhesive, typically £400–£2,500 per jaw, replaced every ~5 years as the bone shrinks.
5Pros and cons
Pros: fixed permanently, faster treatment and recovery, excellent value, no removal for cleaning, work even when there is some bone loss.
Cons: some patients need a short adjustment period for speech, the artificial gum can feel slightly bulky at first, and the failure of even one implant can affect the whole bridge — making good aftercare and regular check-ups essential.
