Dental Anxiety
Around one in four adults avoids the dentist because of fear. If that's you, you're in good company here — and you will never be rushed, lectured or judged.
Ready to book your appointment?
Send us your details and we'll be in touch — usually within one working day.
Control is what makes it bearable.
Most dental fear comes from feeling trapped and out of control. We hand that control back: nothing happens without your agreement, we explain every step before it starts, and a raised hand stops treatment instantly.
Your first visit can be a conversation only — no instruments, no treatment. From there we go at your pace, and where it helps we offer inhalation or intravenous sedation so you remember very little of the appointment.
How anxiety shows up.
The signs vary, but most people notice one or more of these:
- 01Putting off appointments for years
- 02Cancelling at the last minute
- 03Sleepless nights before a visit
- 04Racing heart or nausea in the waiting room
- 05Feeling embarrassed about your teeth
- 06Only attending when in severe pain
Where it comes from.
The most common culprits:
Where to start.
Speak to your our practice dentist if you're experiencing any of the following — book an appointment as soon as you can:
- —You haven't seen a dentist in over a year.
- —You're in pain but too anxious to book.
- —You'd like to meet us before any treatment.
- —You want to know whether sedation is right for you.
In pain and dreading the call?
Tell whoever answers the phone that you're a nervous patient. We'll book you a longer, quieter appointment and focus on getting you comfortable — nothing more until you're ready.
A plan, not a quick fix.
We'll start with a chat and a gentle examination, agree a plan in small steps with clear costs, and use numbing gel, slow anaesthetic or sedation so that each visit ends better than you expected.
