1Who sedation helps
Sedation is not only for extreme phobia. It's equally useful for implant surgery, complex extractions, a sensitive gag reflex, or simply for patients who want to complete several treatments in a single sitting.
Before we sedate anyone we take a full medical history and check that sedation is appropriate for you. If it isn't, we'll suggest alternatives such as longer appointments, breaks, or topical and local anaesthetic techniques.
2On the day
You'll need a responsible adult to bring you home and stay with you for the rest of the day, and you should not drive, work or make important decisions for 24 hours afterwards.
Throughout treatment your oxygen levels, pulse and blood pressure are monitored, and the sedation is titrated to the smallest dose that keeps you comfortable.
